Best Types of Bulbs For Growing Cannabis

The most recommended type of lighting for growing marijuana plants are discharge lamps with some level of high intensity which is know as HIDS. These usually come in several variations only the two specific options that already have excellent color temperature values and a good choice for your growing needs will be discussed.

  • Sodium Lamps

Sodium lamps with high pressure systems or HPS are often the first choice that is worth looking into. They have higher ranges of wattage which goes between 75 watts to 4,000 watts. This type of bulb abundantly produces lumens and they can really do wonders for your cannabis plants. High pressure system lamps are perfect for marijuana plants especially when the latter is already in their flowering stage because of its spectrum of light they they can produce.

  • Metal Halide Lights

This type of bulb have a good wattage that ranges from 32 watts up to 2000 watts and also has a higher level of intensity. Halide bulbs help in encouraging your cannabis plants to stay strong and grow quickly while doing so. This is also considered one of the best option for vegetative and seedling states of your marijuana plants.

Basically, both version of these HIDs are amazing choices for your cultivation needs and they are more specialized towards what part of life cycle of the plant you want to target. But, there are several lamps that would be best to steer clear of.

Bulbs You Should Not Use

There are many bulbs out there that you should not use because they are not suitable fo your needs. One of these type of bulb is the basic house bulb. They are the bulbs you use in your homes and have a range between 15 watts to 150 watts. They do not provide nearly enough of the light that you cannabis plant needs. Another option is the fluorescent lights that are available in shopping areas and many offices. These tube bulbs have a range from 10 watts up to 300 watts. Although you can use them to grow your cannabis plants, definitely you will not get the results you are looking for. They have much lower intensity than the recommended lamps mentioned above.

Another type of light that may be a good idea is your halogen bulb. They make it possible to illuminate easily a large space. But they are extremely hot and can damage your marijuana plants. They can also be dangerous when used in a small area.Make sure that you choose and use the right type of lighting for your plants to achieve a healthy cannabis plant.
